Weekly Class Roundup

Happy Tuesday!  We've got a fairly light week class wise - as we head into Thanksgiving weekend. Take a break from the cooking and planning to have a bit of beady fun!

Thursday October 4th join Angela Peace for her Kumihimo Edge Bead Necklace.  6 to 9pm

Use seed beads and cord to create a double edge beaded necklace with lots of texture and visual interest.
This versatile and easy to learn braiding design can be used to create many different looks from casual to elegant and even scaled down for a bracelet.
This necklace can be completed during the class.

Technique: Kumihimo: Braiding with Beads
Skill Level: Beginner Plus.
Prerequisite: Must know how to braid a basic Kumihimo 8 strand round braid

Dawn Liu-Smyth is back on Saturday from 10am to 1pm - Create this stunning wet felted brooch!

Course Outline: Students will use merino wool roving to design and wet-felt a layered flower brooch. Students will be encouraged to explore colour and texture as they work with the wool fibres. Some basic needle felting and bead stitching will also be covered so that students may embellish their brooch.
Wet-felting is very physical process so students should be prepared to use their arms and hands to roll and manipulate the felt in process.

Tuition will cover the following:
Overview of wool characteristics, the felting process, and materials used. Colour combining and choosing of materials. Handling and laying of wool. Wet-felting-the process, tips and tricks. Basic bead stitching and embellishment of final pieces. Show share and critique.
The workshop is suitable for both the beginner and experienced fibre artist. Each student will leave with a completed felted brooch and will begin to embellish the centre of their flower with beads.

Join Rae Huggins on Tuesday, October 9th from 6pm to 9pm and learn how to create this lovely linked necklace!
