Back at it - July Classes

I hope you all had a safe, fabulous and fun holiday weekend! Continue the fun with our free Open Beading Night. Join Stephanie, tomorrow (Wednesday, July 4th) from 6 to 8pm. Bring in your current project, and spend a couple hours chatting with other like minded folks. You know, the ones who won't roll their eyes at you while you talk about beads. ;-)

Thursday, we continue our happy hour torching. Buy one hour, get one free in air conditioned studio!


Thursday July 5th, 6 to 9pm - Fun with Wire - Rae Huggins



Course Outline:Let's play with wire and have fun!!! In this class you"ll learn:
  • How to make wire beads
  • Horizontal Wire Wrapping
  • Coiling around a bead
  • A Caged Bead
There will be opportunities to make wrapped loops too (one of the fundamentals of wire work) and a spiral headpin.
Skill Level: Beginner to all levels



Saturday July 7th, 10 am to 1pm - Hot Connections with Iris Melamed



Course Outline:
In this class you will learn how to solder circles of heavy gauge silver wire and transform them into earrings and stacking rings. 
We will begin with an overview of soldering tools, materials and techniques. Then we will fuel and fire up our butane torches and learn how to solder jump rings. Next we will discover how to create earrings and stacking rings by forming and soldering larger circles. Some metalwork finishing techniques will be discussed. Time permitting, one set of earrings and three rings will be completed.
Technique Focus: Soldering silver wire
Skill Level: Beginner






On Sunday July 8th - 11am to 2pm, Angela is back to teach her popular Shamballa bracelet class. 11am to 2pm



 

This course teaches all of the basic knotting and finishing techniques that are required to make the bracelet. In addition to learning the basic techniques, participants will also be introduced to some design options that can be applied to future bracelets.
Some colour choices will be available.
Shamballa Bracelets are one of today's newest and hottest gender-neutral jewelry trends. Rooted in Buddhism and mythical Shamballa, they have come to represent peace, happiness and tranquility.
These wear anywhere adjustable bracelets traditionally combine Chinese knotting cord with gemstone beads, but some newer luxury models are including pave diamond beads.

Sunday July 8th, 10am to 5pm - Charmed I'm Sure, Introduction to Metal Clay - Heather Bell- Denison


 In this class you will learn the fundamentals of working with Art Clay Silver OR Copper Clay. We will mold, shape and texture this revolutionary material to create your own one of a kind, fine silver jewellery. During the class, you will have the opportunity to create earrings, charms, or a pendant. All materials included!


Technique Focus: Charms, basic metal clay techniques
Skill Level: Beginner
Prerequisite: None
