Long Weekend Coming Up

This is going to be the ultimate long weekend for me - A Sunday spent playing with metal clay, and Saturday/Monday out in the garden. The weather is fantastic, and lets hope it keeps up! Take a day break from gardening, and give your beads a bit of quality time. We've got some fantastic classes coming up this week!

First up - Wednesday night is Open Beading Night with our in-house sparkle diva - Stephanie! 6 to 8pm

Do you have questions about a beading project? Are you looking for inspiration or creative input? Why not drop by an Open Beading Night at beadFX?!
Stephanie (and her sparkling personality!) will be in the classroom from about 6pm to 8pm to answer questions and give advice.
Calling in advance to reserve a seat is highly recommended.

Fire up an extra long weekend with Happy Hour Torching - Thursday from 5 to 9pm!


Happy Hour Torching
If you have recently taken a lampworking class or are a regular studio user, Happy Hour Torching is the perfect time for you to come by.
On Monday and Thursday evenings from 5pm to 9pm studio rental time is buy one hour get one free! That means two hours for the price of one. How great is that!
You must have lampworking experience, this is not a class or tutorial. This is an opportunity to get a bit of extra torch time at a great rate.
An experienced lampworker will be in the studio from about 7pm to 9pm every Monday and Thursday to answer questions and give advice if you get stuck or have a question.

Friday night sign up for Pam's - ohhhh, pretty bracelet! No, it's not really called that, but it is pretty :-)

 Friday from 6 to 9pm - Spiral Rope Bracelet

Course Outline:
Spiral rope is a versatile, lightweight and durable rope that can be used on its own or to hand pendants from. Participants will create a bracelet using size 8 seed beads and 4mm glass beads. Lots of samples will be shown to show the versatility of this wonderful stitch.
Technique Focus:Stitching
Skill Level: Beginner

On Saturday, join Iris as she fires up the torch to make rings. It's easier than you think! Saturday, from 10am to 1pm



Course Outline:
In this class you will learn how to solder circles of heavy gauge silver wire and transform them into earrings and stacking rings.
We will begin with an overview of soldering tools, materials and techniques. Then we will fuel and fire up our butane torches and learn how to solder jump rings. Next we will discover how to create earrings and stacking rings by forming and soldering larger circles. Some metalwork finishing techniques will be discussed. Time permitting, one set of earrings and three rings will be completed.
Technique Focus: Soldering silver wire
Skill Level: Beginner

Sunday we have two opportunities for beady bliss. Make a Kumihimo Edge Bead Necklace with Angela from 11am to 2pm



Course Outline
Use seed beads and cord to create a double edge beaded necklace with lots of texture and visual interest.
This versatile and easy to learn braiding design can be used to create many different looks from casual to elegant and even scaled down for a bracelet.
This necklace can be completed during the class.
Technique: Kumihimo: Braiding with Beads
Skill Level: Beginner Plus.          
Prerequisite: Must know how to braid a basic Kumihimo 8 strand round braid


Or chill out in the studio with me - Jennifer for a day of playing with Metal Clay! 11am to 4pm on Sunday.


Metal Clay Play Day
Would you like to work on your metal clay projects in a fun, social and supportive environment? Join us during our periodic play days. We will provide access to basic tools and texture plates, but you are required to either bring or purchase your own Art Clay and supplies. You may also peruse our extensive library of videos and books during the day.  Kiln time will also be available for a nominal fee.
Note: This is not a class, and is intended only for those that already have some experience with metal clay.

We have made some changes to the firing fees depending on  which brand of clay you are using - Please be aware of these charges before you sign up.
